Alexis de Tocqueville Society
French aristocrat Alexis Charles-Henri de Tocqueville was a keen observer of
American society. His observations formed the basis of Democracy in America,
a detailed study of American society and politics. Perhaps his most important
observation was that Americans helped each other in times of need. He recognized,
applauded and immortalized the American spirit of voluntary association and
voluntary effort for the community good. Our Leadership Societies attempt
to do the same. By investing in the community at leadership level you are joining
an elite group of individuals who are driving change in our community.
The Tocqueville Society recognizes our most generous contributors, those individuals
who contribute $10,000 or more annually. These individuals make significant
change at a local level and make a powerful statement about their desire to care
for and strengthen our community. Thisl Society works to set the philanthropic standard.

I must say that I have seen Americans make a great deal of real sacrifices to the
public welfare; and have noticed a hundred instances in which they hardly ever
failed to lend a faithful support to one another.”
