Park Avenue Baptist Food Pantry, Mt. Vernon District 80 Schools and the United Way have partnered together to provide packs of nutritious and easy to prepare food to be distributed to the schools neediest children who are at risk for hunger on the weekends.

Kid-friendly ready-to-eat food is collected through various resources such as local food pantries, food drives,

and NOW program sponsorships and provided to children that are at risk for extreme hunger.

Every month throughout the school year is a long three or four day weekend.  On these weekends, the food collected is packed up into bags or backpacks and delivered to schools.  NOW is free of charge to our schools and children and supported solely by volunteers and financial donations.

The NOW program has been successful in providing over 2600 bags of food this year to over 300 school children.   The cost per bag of food is approximately $3.50 each.

A $500 sponsorship will feed 142 children.  In order for the program to expand to all schools additional

funding is necessary.  A $788.00 sponsorship will feed 225 children.

Sponsorships above and beyond your annual gift to the United Way are needed in order to continue with this vital community program

Won't you please help feed a child NOW and become a sponsor today?
