Jefferson County Storm Recovery Resources

United Way of South Central Illinois is helping individuals and families affected by the June 21, 2026 tornado locate trusted resources, complete assistance applications, and navigate the recovery process. This page will be updated as new programs and services become available.

Illinois REALTORS® Relief Foundation

The Illinois REALTORS® Relief Foundation is accepting applications from households affected by the June 2026 tornadoes in Jefferson, Coles, and Effingham Counties.

​

Eligible Illinois residents may receive up to $500 per household for housing-related expenses or unreimbursed losses directly caused by the tornado. Assistance is need-based, subject to available funding, and processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Application deadline: September 23, 2026

United Way can assist affected households with preparing and submitting this application.

Catholic Charities Assistance

Catholic Charities of Southern Illinois may provide disaster-recovery assistance based on household need and available funding. United Way is helping affected residents prepare applications and supporting documentation.
